The times when they are little. Savor them wanting to dress up. Changing their minds. Little spidermans and baseball players and pretty princesses. Glitter on the cheeks and running through the crisp leaves. Savor the warm smiles and giggles and grins and sticky hand-holding. Savor and hold precious in your heart the memories of your children. Hold fast to them and cherish these times.
Really there's not much to say except wow, wow and wow. The day was beautiful - warm and cool, sunny and shady, happy and happier. This family invited me in and let me capture their beautiful dynamic. Daughters with dad, proud mama, giggly girls and glowing joy. Here are *just a few* of my favorites.
How to make Monster Pudding - mix up some plain Jello vanilla pudding...adding a few drops of green food coloring. Lick the bowl. Squeeze out some yummy Hershey's syrup onto a separate plate and lick your fingers. Dip a clean paintbrush into the syrup and paint the inside of a clear cup (glass or plastic) with a spooky or funny face. Lick the paintbrush if you want (but that's kinda gross). Carefully spoon in green pudding - making sure not to smear the face. Lick spoon. Crush up Oreo cookies (after you eat some, of course) and sprinkle on the top for hair. Lick fingers and lips and dig in.
(I *believe* I tore this page out of an older BH&G or maybe the free Kraft Food and Family magazine...so kudos to them for creating this cute and easy dessert that certain little 5 year old boys LOVE.)
Thought it was time today for a nice morning shot. I think I started this "series" (haha!) back in March or April having been inspired by the work of Stephanie Congdon Barnes and her friend Maria Alexandra Vettese. They live 3191 miles apart and decided to communicate each day through a series of photos. They have two books (find them here and here) and I think this is just the shizz. I had great intentions of doing this every day for a year but um...life happened and I didn't. So I'm picking it back up and have not-so-grand illusions of doing this everyday when I can fit it into my schedule. There...feels better. No pressure.
My goal is to compile at least enough to print out my own little book a la Mpix.com for my family...
